TAMK agreed on Double Degree with a Chinese partner university

TAMK has a Double Degree agreement for students in Degree Programme in Paper, Textile and Chemical Engineering. On Tuesday January 15th a delegation from Shandong Polytechnic University in China visited TAMK with an intention to sign a Double Degree Agreement for the next three academic years.

The delegation had negotiations with Marja Sutela, Vice President (degree education), Ulla Häggblom, Head of Degree Programme and with Kirsi Tolvanen, Head of International Services. At the end of the meeting the agreement for Double Degree as well as for exchange activities was signed and now TAMK has another valued partner in China. 

Shandong Polytechnic University (SPU) is a modern university with over 21.000 students and new university premises with modern laboratories located in the capital city Jinan in Shandong Province of China. For TAMK engineering students in Degree Programme in Paper, Textile and Chemical Engineering, the Double Degree agreement offers a possibility to attend an academic year in SPU and receive a Bachelor Degree from both universities, SPU and TAMK. The co-operation in coming years is set to be continuous and fruitful.

TAMK's Principal Lecturer Marjukka Dyer received Honorary Fellowship from the University of Glamorgan

TAMK's Principal Lecturer Marjukka Dyer received Honorary Fellowship from the University of Glamorgan.

The invitation letter telling about the honour was given to Marjukka Dyer by Doctors Peter Evans and Dawn Story from the University of Glamorgan. Marjukka Dyer received the invitation letter at the graduation ceremony of TAMK's and the University of Glamorgan's MsC Sustainable Business Risk Management students at TAMK on 28 January. The official ceremony related to the honour will be held at the University of Glamorgan in July.

As a long-term Head of Degree Programme in Environmental Engineering, Marjukka Dyer has already cooperated with the University of Glamorgan for 15 years. Marjukka's other international achievements also affected conferment of the honour.

The honour was a well-kept secret, and came as a delightful surprise to Marjukka Dyer.

Visitors from Hannover

Fachhochschule Hannover is a University of applied sciences and arts. With approximately 7.000 students, it is the second largest university in Hannover. TAMK and FH Hannover have had cooperation for several years. FH Hannover and TAMK have a bilateral agreement for double degree in Engineering and they are both willing to continue the cooperation. Dr. Rosemarie Kerkow-Weil, Dr. Lars Gusig, Dr.-ing. Wilfried Stiller from FH Hannover visited TAMK 26th May- 28th May 2010. Their aim was to get acquainted with TAMK's International services, the open University and TAMK's strategy.


The guests arrived at Tampere on Wednesday evening. First they had dinner in Näsinneula where TAMK University of Applied Sciences' representatives were Marja Sutela (Vice President), Riitta Mäkelä, Olavi Kopponen and Kaarlo Koivisto. On Thursday the guests heard speeches and International services and the open University presented themselves. The visitors heard presentation about TAMK's strategy and visited the laboratories.
