Morning inspired to photograph – Cream of TAMK’s morning photo contest

TAMK’s popular photo contest of last autumn was this spring followed by a new one with the morning theme. During three weeks, morning photos on early as well as late risers could be submitted at Facebook.

A total of 23 photos were sent to the contest by 16 participants. The jury’s difficult task was to select the winner among the nine most-voted photos. The morning theme had been approached creatively. There were photos on beautiful morning landscapes, diverse feelings as well as activities.

"The enthusiasm of Monday morning..."

The jury selected Saara Mäkinen’s photo "The enthusiasm of Monday morning..." as the winner. In the jury’s opinion, the sympathetic photo very aptly depicts the Monday morning mood of many people.

Terhi Salo’s photo came second. The photo conveys the happy mood. The beautiful morning light also creates a peaceful atmosphere.

The youngest participant, Sylvia Mäkelä came third in the contest. The idea was nice and the photo had been taken creatively.

Film tickets were raffled among the voters. The fortune favoured Tytti Leiwo and Emilia Hämäläinen.

Hail from The Hague

On 29th of March 2011, we had a visitor from The Hague University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands.
Mr. Paul G. Nixon, a Senior Lecturer in European Studies, visited TAMK.
The reason behind his visit was that TAMK and The Hague University of Applied Sciences are negotiating a bilateral agreement which would ensure more student and staff exchanges between these two universities.

The Hague University of Applied Sciences and TAMK have been doing collaboration in the fields of Media and ICT for the past several years.
However, the plan is that The Hague University of Applied Sciences and TAMK would be also exchanging Business Administration and International Business students in January 2012.
Also, planned is to exchange Business Administration and IB staff members.

During his visit Mr. Nixon was taken for a tour around TAMK main campus.
He met Mr. Janne Hopeela (international coordinator, lecturer), Ms. Kirsi Tolvanen (head of the TAMK International Services), Ms. Kristiina Alaruusi (international coordinator), Mr. Kai Hintsanen (Head of the IB Programme) and Mr. Jouni Ranta (Principal Lecturer of the BBA in Legal Expertise).
He also had the chance to meet a student who was planning to spend an exchange period in The Hague.

Mr. Nixon said that he has been in Tampere several times. However, this was his first time visiting TAMK University of Applied Sciences.
He spent one night here in Tampere before continuing his trip to Helsinki.

Mr. Nixon told us that he has been warmly welcomed to TAMK and people have been really interested in obtaining his university as a Business Administration partner university.
One detail he had marked was that we have a lot of open space here at TAMK main campus.
This can be very true, when you think how tightly and closely everything is built in the Netherlands.

TAMK Looks documents styles and looks from TAMK’s corridors.

We went to check out if the spring sun has yet affected on peoples styles. This time we surveyed men’s spring style.
